We are Sports Journalists

Welcome to ISSA

After World War II, someone had the idea of creating the Indiana Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association. In 1946, the ISSA was born, and it’s still a vibrant and much appreciated organization today.

2020 Annual Banquet

Our 25th annual Hall of Fame Induction Banquet is scheduled for Sunday, April 5th, once again to be held at the Valle Vista Country Club in Greenwood, beginning at 2 p.m.

Hall of Fame

The yearly Hall of Fame induction banquet has become a tremendous success. There is a lot of personal satisfaction in being honored by your peers. It is from these people that you get your greatest respect.

On behalf of the Indiana Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association’s board of directors, I am announcing that we are canceling our 2020 Hall of Fame Induction banquet.

The 25th annual banquet was originally scheduled to be held in April, as usual, but because of the coronavirus pandemic, we postponed it to Aug. 2. But with coronavirus cases still increasing in Indiana, we have decided to cancel the banquet for this year.

Instead, those who were going to be honored this year will be honored on April 11, 2021, at the Valle Vista Country Club in Greenwood. The banquet, as usual, will start at 2 p.m.

The decision to cancel was not an easy one, but with the medical experts predicting a spike in virus cases in the state later this summer or this fall, and after learning that several other state organizations/associations have canceled their annual banquets/functions, we decided it was best for the ISSA to err on the side of caution.

Following our postponement of our originally scheduled April banquet, our treasurer Fred Inniger worked with those who had purchased banquet tickets and either refunded their ticket money or held on to the money, whichever they preferred.

He’ll be doing the same this time around. Fred can be reached via email at Inniger.Fred@gmail.com or by phone at 260-349-8133.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience and hope you all understand.

We are hopeful that things improve over the next several months and are looking forward to having a large turnout next April. Please mark April 11, 2021, on your calendars.
